Standard Kitchen Splashback Height

There is no mandatory standard for kitchen splashback height in Australia.

A lot of people confuse the splashback height with the rangehood height above an electric or gas cooktop or the distance of a wall cabinet above the benchtop

In reality, your kitchen splashback height is determined by practicality and aesthetics.

Do you want a mid-height splashback between the benchtop and the underside of your wall cabinets or do you want a splashback one or two tiles high?

Keep in mind if you do have a low height splashback above your benchtop and the splashback runs behind your gas cooktop, you will need to make sure the splashback is non combustible and that the minimum height of the splashback needs to be 150mm above the top of the gas trivet (or follow the manufacturers recommendation).
